I had no problems with the current latest Version 8.0.34 (Build 27181) on my pastįresh install of OS X 10.11 El Capitan (not upgrade from any previous OS) and only experienced the problem after going to macOS Sierra. The thread you have cited is was started almost 3 years ago on a version of Mac OS X that is now 4 major releases old using an older version of Microsoft Remote Desktop.
