Our best bet is to wait for 8.0.35 which will be the first version intended So again, I don't think this problem is because of the latest version breaking something but rather that it just hasn't been made macOS Sierra compatible yet as Alvin suggested. If you keep Time Machine backups, you can test that theory as you should be able to restore an older version associated to your Apple ID if you have a backup from that time. Given that my testing showed the latest version worked in El Capitan, but the same exact version doesn't work in macOS Sierra (both clean installs), I've been believing its a compatibility issue created by the OS being unknown to Microsoft Remote Desktopįor Mac and an older version of the app wouldn't make any difference.

It is for Mac OS X 10.5.8 - 10.7, so I wouldn't recommend it. The last version directly distributed by Microsoft can be downloaded PeopleĬan't share their App Store apps-even if they are free.

Unfortunately this is not an option because any reasonably aged versions (after 2011 or so) would be distributed exclusively via the Mac App Store and each download is restricted to the Apple ID that downloaded it (especially in macOS Sierra). I someone has an older version on a Mac, please make that available until the problems are solved. Unknown operating system or simply provide an error message about the unprofiled/unsupported OS version so that this issue can be reported and resolved in the beta period by a standard error message, rather than mass reports of the common symptom(s). It may be better to either default to use the latest known meta data on an Given that this problem keeps popping up, it sounds like the past fixes from Microsoft have been to populate some missing data for an "unknown operating system"? If this is the case, it sounds like perhaps Microsoft Remote Desktop has metaĭata for the various full screen mode behavior changes that have occurred in Mac OS X (now MacOS) such as when Lion introduced the first variant of the modern full screen mode.

I had no problems with the current latest Version 8.0.34 (Build 27181) on my pastįresh install of OS X 10.11 El Capitan (not upgrade from any previous OS) and only experienced the problem after going to macOS Sierra. The thread you have cited is was started almost 3 years ago on a version of Mac OS X that is now 4 major releases old using an older version of Microsoft Remote Desktop.
